2006-04-10 - 8:20 p.m. So Katie, our youareokok resident advisor, left Turkmenistan last Monday after a 12 day stay in "The Las Vegas of Central Asia," as one newspaper claimed. Anyway, it was nothing short of 12 days of giggling, laughing, and a few moments of chortling. Katie got to see all of the highlights of Turkmenistan including: dayzas, people staring constantly at you, people pushing you all the time, picture frenzy, and lots of vodka. Katie deserves a gold medal for the cheerful and relaxed way she handled everything and especially wins the gold medal of my heart for making it the best 12 days I've had in Turkmenistan. Cheerscheerscheers. For more details on Katie's trip, please visit youareokok.diaryland.com. Now for more action! Things that my 12 year old student Saparmyrat (the Full House addict) has exclaimed, shouted, or proclaimed in the middle of my lessons—keep in mind that knowledge of American culture in Turkmenistan is confined to Arnold Schwarzeneggar movies and Eminem: -Oh, groovy!
