I repeat: something is happening and I don't know what it is. The other day I turned on MTV and saw two men running around in '70s shorts with '70s ringer t-shirts and '70s haircuts. They were doing some sort of weird 1970s decathlon competition that involved everyone in the show dressing up like it was 1970. Then when I saw it again a few days later, it was a bunch of people living in a house together who were dressed in 1970s clothes. What. the. fuck. Can someone explain what happened to television when I was gone?

What was even sadder was that when we had our Thanksgiving chili dinner with the new volunteers, I basically just grilled the more media savvy ones on television programs I missed the past year. Not "What kind of impact do you think we, as volunteers, will have on Turkmenistan?" or "How do you feel your previous experiences will both help and hinder you during your service." No. It was just, "OH MY GOSH, I want to see Lost so badly, I could pee myself. HAHAHA! I KNOW! Thank God I still read Television Without Pity!" Ain't nothing changed in the heart of a boy in Turkmenistan who done loved Degrassi as much as I did.
